SHERRILL, N.Y. - Playing at Noyes Park for the first time in 690 days, the Sherrill Silversmiths dropped a 6-0 decision to the Syracuse Salt Cats.
Zach Silfies (Elizabethtown College) and Jake Baldini squared off in a pitchers duel over the first five frames. Silfies allowed a solo homer to Syracuse's Matt Damato in the third after opening the game with two scoreless innings. Baldini tossed five scoreless innings to earn the win, allowing just one hit. Syracuse scored a pair of runs in the sixth, which marked Silfies' final inning of work. Ziv Gar and Thomas Roefaro pitched the last three innings.
Former Silversmith Eddy Garcia scored the Salt Cats' sixth run with a solo shot.
