Silversmiths 2019 Season Preview

By:Kyle Relf | June 02, 2019

SHERRILL, N.Y. – On the mound, look for a trio of returning Silversmiths in Connor Vandreason, Ryan Garbry (both of Onondaga Community College), and Rylan Baker (St. John Fisher) to make an impact. The rest of the group will consist of two right-handed SUNY Cobleskill products, Kristopher Bulman and Timothy Curtis. Jake Mello (Trinity College), Isaac Blanford (Nichols College), Max Gordon (Kalamazoo College), and lefty Jack Wilde (St. Thomas Aquinas College) complete the 2019 pitching staff.

The Silversmiths have several options behind the plate including two San Jacinto College North standouts Chase Ferem and Rafael Ochoa. Jacob Hunt of Southern New Hampshire University will look to have the same success with the Smitties as his college teammate Sean Doherty saw in 2018. Robert Gouldsbury (Keystone College) rounds out Sherrill’s stable of catchers.

The Silversmiths lineup will need to replace plenty of power with the departure of NYCBL’s 2018 Co-Player of the Year Chris Turco. The club will look for two Sherrill area natives, Blake Vandreason (attending SUNY Oswego in the fall) and Davey Moffett (Manhattan College), to provide some pop. Moffett was first team all-state at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School and finished his freshman year of college batting .256 with 15 RBI’s. Infielders Matt Nodoro (Fairleigh Dickinson University) and Michael Tito (Clarkson University) will also look to wreak havoc on opposing pitchers after batting well over .300 in their 2019 college seasons.

Be sure to come to the Silversmiths’ home opener on Monday, June 10th at Noyes Park to see these future stars!
