Silversmiths Overpower Niagara, 17-3

By:Kyle Relf | June 06, 2018

The Silversmiths put up six runs in the third inning, and that's all Joseph Kemlage would need. Chris Turco started things off with a double, Andrew Roden followed it with an RBI single, and Robert Armitage finished it off with a two run homer.

The Power struggled to find any offense against Joseph Kemlage, who was in control right from the first pitch. Kemlage flirted with a no-hitter until Connor Walsh doubled in the seventh inning to break up the no-hit bid. The Silversmiths used a combination of Wesley Lahey and Matthew Elliot in the eighth and ninth innings to close the game.

With each starter getting at least one hit, the Smitties' offense was clicking all day. Robert and Reece Armitage combined for five hits, four RBI, and two home runs. Chris Turco contributed four RBI on two hits, and Sean Doherty added three RBI.

Next up for the Silversmiths (4-1) is a matchup with the Rome Generals at 2:30 on Friday at Noyes Park; the Smitties hope to avenge their only loss of the young season.
