Following a double by Matt Krause in the ninth inning, Reece Armitage stepped up to the plate with only one out and runners on second and third. Armitage would deliver a single to tie the game and send Nate Cormier, the go-ahead run, to third base. Chris Turco would then line a base hit into left field to score Cormier and win the game for the Silversmiths.

Sherrill first got on the scoreboard in the fourth inning thanks to a double by Juan Familia that scored Sam Rowley, tying the game at 1-1. Rowley then launched a home run over the right field fence in the sixth inning to give the Smitties a 2-1 lead. Drew Patterson of the Salt Cats quickly erased that lead. Patterson hit a solo homer in the seventh to tie the game, then hit an RBI single in the eighth to give Syracuse a 3-2 advantage that would last until the bottom of the ninth.

On the mound, Adam Riesberg got the victory for the Silversmiths after tossing a scoreless ninth inning. Connor Van Dreason started the game for Sherrill and pitched six and two-thirds innings, giving up four hits and two runs. The Silversmiths improved to 1-1 on the season. The Smitties return home to Noyes Park for a matchup with the Rome Generals scheduled for Monday at 5 PM.
